The Fortitude Chronicle: A Weekly Digest of Athletic Determination

The Fortitude Chronicle: A Weekly Digest of Athletic Determination

Dear Fortitude family,

Welcome back to my midweek motivation! Each day and week brings its own set of experiences and inspirations, compelling me to share my thoughts with all of you.

I couldn’t help but share this tweet, as I have played it upwards of 10 times for myself. Outwork your self doubt. Self-doubt is a tough opponent, and shouting affirmations in the mirror? That’s just not going to cut it by itself. Deep rooted confidence doesn’t come from talk alone; it comes from action, from proving to yourself again and again that you’ve got what it takes.

Action Speaks Louder: Building Confidence the Hard Way

Real confidence? That comes from getting your hands dirty and putting in the work.

  1. Set Goals That Scare You, Follow With Micro-Goals: Aim high and push yourself. If someone doesn’t tell you that you’re crazy then your goal isn’t high enough. Follow your ultimate goal with micro goals for each day, each week. Every goal you hit is another point on your scoreboard. Win every day. Never lose back to back days.

  2. Don’t Back Down from Challenges: Challenges are opportunities, not roadblocks. Face them head-on. Don’t just embrace discomfort, seek it out. Find ways to consistently push yourself through adversity. On the other side of discomfort is growth. Stack undeniable proof that you will dominate through adversity.

  3. Celebrate the Wins, Big and Small: Won the day? Hell yeah, celebrate it. Let yourself feel the success and own it. Then, Do. It. Again.

Rid Yourself of Self-Doubt

Self-doubt likes to talk a big game, but you’re not here to listen. You’re here to prove it wrong. Like Geno Smith said ‘The haters wrote me off. I didn’t write back though.”

  1. Remember Your Wins: Keep your victories front and center in your mind. It’s the proof you need when times get tough. You’ve been there, done that.

  2. Get Feedback and Use It: Talk to people you trust, get their take, and use it to get better, stronger, faster. Diversify your trusted circle. Get different opinions. However, remember, it all comes back on you to make the difference.

  3. Focus on What You Can Do, Right Now: Can’t control everything? No problem. Focus on what you can do and hit it hard. Double down on those things. Build momentum every day.

Building a Solid Stack of Proof

Every win, every conquered challenge is proof – undeniable proof – that you can do this.

  1. Keep a Log of Your Wins: Write down your achievements, all of them. Over time, you’ve got a solid log of just how tenacious you are.

  2. Practice Gratitude, Stay Grounded: Remembering what you’ve achieved keeps you grounded and pushes you forward. Choose gratitude for everything in your life; the ups, the downs, all of it. Its made you who you are.

Building unshakeable confidence takes grit, determination, and a whole lot of hard work. But every step you take, every challenge you beat, adds up. You’re building your case of just how capable you are. So, let’s do this. Let’s build something real.

To Building Fortitude.

Warm regards,
