The Playbook

People don’t change when you grow. They just get revealed.

When you stop drinking.
When you have kids.
When your priorities shift.

You suddenly see who was there for you — and who was there for what you provided.

That’s when a quiet but powerful truth hits: there are no rules. There are only social consequences.

You don’t owe your time to people who drain you.
You don’t owe your energy to rooms you’ve outgrown.

The lesson I wish I knew as an athlete:

Be ruthless with access.

• Don’t do things you don’t want to do.

• Don’t say yes out of guilt.

• Don’t sit at tables where you have to shrink to stay.

You’ll grow out of old circles until you find new ones.

That’s not disloyalty.

That’s the price of growth — and the down payment on the life you actually want.
