The greatest leaders I know have one thing in common: no one on Earth holds them to a higher standard than they hold themselves.
I was reminded of this in an interview between Ahmad Rashad and Kobe Bryant in the early 2000s. The Lakers were coming off two rough seasons, and

Geno Auriemma said, "We put a huge premium on body language."
"If your body language is bad, you will never get in the game. Ever."
Your body language screams. It sets the tone for yourself and others.

Underrated life skill: Recognizing when you’re not the right messenger. Some truths need to come from a friend, not a boss. A coach, not a parent. A peer, not a partner. Sometimes, the message may be perfect, you're just the wrong person to deliver it.

Did You Know?
This 2011 study by Moser et al. investigated how growth mindset versus fixed mindset affects neural responses to mistakes. Using EEG to measure brain activity, researchers found that individuals with a growth mindset (who believe intelligence develops through effort) showed enhanced error positivity (Pe) brain responses, reflecting greater awareness and attention to mistakes. These growth-minded participants also demonstrated superior accuracy after making errors compared to fixed-mindset individuals. Crucially, the Pe brain response mediated the relationship between mindset and post-error performance, suggesting that neural mechanisms for mistake awareness are fundamental to growth-minded individuals' ability to bounce back from errors.
