The Playbook
Every mindset has an expiration date.
Chip on your shoulder works until it doesn't. Prove-them-wrong energy fuels you until it drains you. Perfectionism drives excellence until it paralyzes you.
The shift is different for everyone. For some, the chip stays useful for decades. For others, it becomes toxic after the first win.
The question isn't when to change your mindset. It's: Is this still serving me?
Elite performers constantly audit their thinking. They don't assume that what worked last year still works now.
They ask:
Does this mindset move me forward or keep me stuck?
Am I running toward something or just running from something?
Is this fuel or is this weight?
The mindset that got you here might not get you there. Or it might. Only you know.
But you have to keep asking.
Because the most dangerous thing isn't the wrong mindset. It's keeping a mindset on autopilot and never questioning whether it still fits.
Try this:
Set a 5-minute timer. Write down the primary mindset driving you right now. Then answer: "Is this still serving me, or am I operating on outdated fuel?" If you hesitate, you already know the answer.
